Globally, the beauty and fashion industry has grown immensely since the pandemic began. The reason is behind a rapid expansion through digital channels and the attraction of customers willing to pay more for higher quality.
That's where our partner - an independent creative agency – came into play with the front-end and UX/UI implementation as well as strategy and creative and technical approach to launch the very first e-commerce website for a well-known player in the industry. Surely, they wanted to keep up with the trends and the world’s new rules. The client's main request was to launch a brand-new global eCommerce platform for their brand.
The agency has also collaborated with an external backend and QA specialist and the client's production team. Their day-to-day task included not only development but also design, business strategy, and creative approach.
Essentially, support from Apptension's side was needed for scaling the resources for the project in terms of frontend development mostly. However, there was also a significant share of product management support.
Before choosing Apptension as a partner for the project, the agency considered other IT firms and corporations. Reportedly, according to the agency’s head of production: “Apptension had the flexibility that none of the IT corporations can give and a thorough understanding of needs. Together with the knowledge and professionalism required for such a responsible task, it made Apptension a perfect candidate. It's worth mentioning that it was a choice made by the whole agency’s team after a series of interviews with our employees, which only proved the strong connection”.
The main areas of Apptension's guidance were required in front-end development and project management. For example, at this stage of their eCommerce website development, the client, a luxury beauty/fashion brand, wanted to conduct strategic research to help invent an improved user path and increase conversions on specific pages. As mentioned before, the creative agency team also required project management resources and front-end developers to help implement the planned improvements.
This global independent creative agency has a lean structure, resulting in around 100 employees. Thus, they needed to use their resources as efficiently as possible. Therefore, they decided to power up and scale the team working on the luxury brand project they won some time ago. As a result, a few frontend developers from Apptension were meant to join the project as a team extension which was a close collaboration with complete integration into existing internal processes.
Throughout the whole cooperation over the project, the Apptension team assisted with the following tasks:
The client was planning to make their products available to a specific location-based market that wasn’t accessible online before. Thus, the rollout required some language-related adaptations, changes in content layout, and new payment options (which needed an additional buyer validation process implemented). The overall process took approximately 4 months, including the design and development.
The global rollout concerned expanding the Fashion section to be accessible and purchasable across the world. Apptension's team worked on the initiative's design and development sides.
Within this section, some of the Product Detailed Pages required optimizations according to the previously conducted user research. In addition, we made some improvements to the user flow to increase the number of sales completed on each of the PDPs.
The idea behind this tool was to provide a gamified solution for a simpler search of a matching product - be it for the clients themselves or a present for somebody else. With the joint effort of the Apptension and creative agency’s team, it took approximately 2 months to provide a brand-matching design and 3 more months for an entire development process.
As simple as it sounds, we helped introduce new product detailed pages for arriving products across various sections of the eCommerce store. However, what stood out during this task was building a personalization feature for a variety of beauty products, allowing the creation of authentic fashion gadgets to be fully adapted to clients' liking.
Last but not least, our team assisted in the gift card creation initiative, which allowed the brand for additional eCommerce product positions that could boost income.
